What is the Flaming Fire Illustrated Bible?
Our goal is to illustrate the entire bible verse–by–verse—
one illustration per verse. We plan to enlist artists and illustrators from
all over the world— including you!— to help us bring each
of the 36,665 verses in our database to life.
What artists have contributed so far? Anyone I know?
Tony Millionaire, Farel Dalrymple, Ken Habarta, Dame Darcy, Danny Hellman, R. Sikoryak, Esao Andrews, Lauren Weinstein, Theo Edmands, Camilla Ha, Muwen Pan, Adam Mayer, and lots more every day.
Can anyone use illustrations from the Illustrated Bible for individual or
educational use; for instance, for a lecture, sermon or a school report?
Yes, that's what it's for! Just make sure that you:
- Give the individual artist who created the piece credit;
- Give the Flaming Fire Illustrated Bible credit; and
- Contact us and tell us what you're going to use it for. We won't
say no. We'd just like to know.
Can I use an illustration for my music group or performing arts group?
Probably. It depends, though — email us, and we'll let you know.
What are you going to do with all this stuff? Are you going to make money
off all these images that people are donating?
We are trying to start a non-profit for this and other related projects,
but it's slow going. Right now we're donating lots of our money and time to
this project, which is fine. We love doing this, and seeing all this great
art! But we'd like to reimburse ourselves for the money we're spending and
be able to spend more time on projects like this. If you're a legally gifted
person who'd like to help, please email
Patrick.
Can I reserve a verse?
Yes, you can reserve a verse for up to 90 days. Email the verse(s) you want to reserve to
kate@flamingfire.com.
Which Bible are you using?
We're using the King James Version, plus the Apocrypha commonly included
in Catholic Bibles — Esdras; 2 Esdras; Esther; 1 Maccabees; 2 Maccabees;
Tobit; Judith; Wisdom; Sirach; Baruch; Susanna; Azariah; Manasseh and Bel.
At this time, not all the Apocrypha are in our
database.
Do you have an opinion on this? Email
Kate.
Special thanks go to all the hardworking volunteers at
Project Gutenberg, who provided
the text used by this project.
I'm a professional artist and some talentless bozo named Kate Hambrecht took the verse I wanted to illustrate. Can I bump an inferior illustration?
Are you guys Christians? Jews? Muslims? Why are you doing this?
We like the Bible, and we like spiritually minded people. The Flaming
Fire Bible Project wasn't created as a mouthpiece for any one sect or
religion in particular, but to reflect and celebrate all the various
artistic, religious and sacred perspectives on the Torah, Latter Prophets
and New Testament from around the world.
